Wildlife Poaching In Africa

The giraffe is the tallest animal in the world and is known for its very long neck. According to the National Geographic, the height of a mature giraffe is from 14 to 19 feet and they weigh 1750 to 2800 pounds. The giraffe is herbivorous and feeds on leaves, tree buds and shoots from trees like the Acacia and other thorny plants and grasses. It can be found in Kenya, Cameroon, Chad, Uganda, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. These countries have wild grassland plains, woodlands and savannas that are suitable for their sustenance. According to Giraffe Conservation Foundation, less than 80,000 giraffes remain globally.
